Amin is originally from Singapore. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Physics and minoring in Chemistry. He obtained his teaching qualification from the National Institute of Education (Singapore) before embarking on his teaching career as a Math and Science teacher in Singapore with the Ministry of Education. He has a Master of Education in Advanced Teaching from the University of the People in partnership with the IB. Amin is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education. He has been with the International School of Nanshan Shenzhen since 2018.
Before moving to Shenzhen, Amin taught at one of the top international schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. He has taught DP Physics since 2011 and constantly strives to improve his teaching practices. He is an IB World Studies Extended Essay and Physics examiner. He strongly believes a teacher in the 21st century needs to equip students with the necessary information literacy skills and help them make sense of the vast trove of information they have at their fingertips.
Amin incorporates technology in his lessons and understands the importance of digital literacy for life in the 21st century. His students can corroborate information from traditional textbooks through practical activities that strengthen their conceptual knowledge. Amin also likes to build lasting bonds with his students. He holds dear the saying, 'people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.'
Amin likes to travel and spend time with his friends and family in his free time.
