Kandace Law is from Kansas City, Missouri. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she focused her honor’s thesis on school counseling. Her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and Counseling Guidance, and Certification in K-12 School Counseling, was earned at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She obtained her certification in Play Therapy at Mid-America Nazerene University, and received her credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) to apply her skills as a private therapist.
Prior to joining ISNS, Kandace worked as a School Counselor in the Independence School District in the Greater Kansas City area, and was in leadership positions in her district, regional and state level associations. She also worked with families, couples, children and adults in a private counseling setting outside of the schools.
Kandace utilizes a child-centered and holistic approach to supporting and counseling students with their academic, personal/social and career/college development and needs. She has a passion for allowing students to express themselves as individuals and take agency in their own goals and experiences. Through the Comprehensive School Counselling Program at ISNS, Kandace will work with students individually, in small groups, or in the classroom setting. She feels honored to be part of the ISNS team, and feels strongly about collaboration with staff, parents and students alike.
