Thomas Tucker

Lower Primary Principal (K3-G2)

Thomas Tucker was born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, Canada. Thomas completed his Bachelor of Business and Administration Degree at the University of New Brunswick. Once Thomas finished his first degree, he moved to South Korea where he rediscovered his love of learning and found a passion for teaching. This passion led to him earning a Bachelor of Education Degree from Acadia University, a Master of Education degree from the University of New Brunswick and his TESOL certification. Since then, he has continued to work towards earning his Principal Training Center Certificate. 

Thomas believes in maintaining children’s natural curiosity through creating a safe learning environment that promotes development of the whole child. He is a strong supporter of play-based and inquiry-based learning and believes in the value of helping students develop key skills that will help them as they enter a future unknown to us now. Thomas aims to make every student see the value they bring to the school community by developing a caring, principled community of empowered learners. 

As a leader, Thomas values the diversity that the team can bring and sees humility as a key ingredient to supporting a team of professionals. He feels lucky to have a leadership role in such a passionate, caring community full of educators who keep their students’ best interest at the center of their daily routines. His belief that respectful relationships among people paired with a common goal are the keys to strong teams guides him as he continues to explore and learn about effective educational leadership. 

When not in the classroom, Thomas enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his family. He also has a passion for many sports, especially basketball and baseball.
