Gloria Carnevale is a Canadian/Italian artist, designer, educator, curator and speaker who has lived and worked in Shenzhen since 2012. She was born in Canada and was raised in Oakville, Ontario. She is known as an arts community leader and is a founding member of the artist collective, ISZAF (International Shenzhen Artist Forum). Gloria enjoys connecting with the artistic community in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong province and loves to use this experience to enrich her life, and the curriculum in her classes. She is honored to be part of the ISNS community!
Gloria holds degrees in visual arts (BFA, Mount Allison University), design (Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning) and education (B.Ed, Brock University) and has over 14 years of work experience in these fields. She has presented at several major conferences about art, technology and education including TEDx, 21CLHK, PechaKucha, EdTechGZ and ACAMIS leadership and technology conferences.
Gloria is an active artist and has exhibited her artwork at such establishments as Shenzhen International Art Fair, Art Canton, Guangzhou International Public Art Fair, Jardin Orange and Great Art Space. Her artwork generally explores the themes surrounding the concept of identity, such as how relationships and surroundings collaborate to identify a person. She enjoys to incorporate both serious and satirical elements into her artwork, as well as manipulating repetition, bold colours and textures.
Gloria’s students have graduated ISNS to attend top universities to study art and design related fields, such as Cornell, Rhode Island School of Design, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Emily Carr University, Sheridan College, Hong Kong PolyU, Parson’s School of Design, School of Visual Arts NYC and Ringling College of Art and Design. She is very proud of all of her students, and they inspire her greatly as an artist and educator.
