Chris began his teaching career in Tampa, Florida, USA, after studying mathematics and education at the University of South Florida. He taught for 5 years in Florida public high schools before moving to Shenzhen, where he spent another 5 years teaching in international schools. Although his degree and certification are in middle and high school mathematics education, Chris has taught every grade level from 5th grade through 12th, covering a variety of subjects from Formal Logic to AP Calculus.
During his time in Shenzhen, Chris has grown to love this exciting city as well as the enthusiastic young people who drive it. If you ask, he will definitely tell you that “Shenzhen is home”. He enjoys finding new places around town to visit with his family on the weekends, and when time allows, he also enjoys cooking and music production.
Chris believes that studying mathematics is one of the best ways to understand how one’s own mind works. He aims to guide the careful and dedicated students at ISNS in their mission to understand our world and their place in it through the lens of mathematics, and to cultivate an appreciation of the subject in its own right.
