Mariek is the Head of English Language and Literature, CAS Coordinator, and English Literature Teacher for grades 10, 11, and 12. She is from Toronto, Canada. Mariek graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology before completing her Bachelor of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island and gaining her Teaching Certification. She has taught in South Korea, Canada, and China, and loves the adventure and experience that comes from teaching internationally. 

 Mariek has been part of the ISNSZ team since 2019 and is proud to be part of such a dedicated and caring community. She loves to read, go for walks, cook, travel, and is passionate about caring for our environment and expanding her horizons by trying new things. Some of the extra-curricular activities that she has been involved with at ISNSZ include Personal and Community Projects, Eco Squad, Lighthouse Literary Magazine, and Global English Language Week. Mariek is excited for this school year and the opportunities that it brings to learn and grow as an individual and as an educator.
