Jesse DeSousa

MYP Physical and Health Education Teacher

Jesse De Sousa is an active and driven Physical Education (P.E) teacher that strives to lead his students by example. He was born, raised, and educated in Ontario, Canada where he attended Guelph University and received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. This Kinesiology program at Guelph not only included several hands-on labs related to biology, sports, fitness, and nutrition, but it also gave him the opportunity to complete two high school teaching internships in both science and P.E. 

These experiences are what evoked his passion to work with young, eager minds in the education field and also to later obtain his Post-Secondary Bachelor of Education at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. Prior to living in Shenzhen, China, Jesse has lived abroad in South America and Europe. Jesse has been working at ISNS since 2014 and has taught IB-MYP P.E to grades 6 – 10, as well as IB-MYP grades 8 and 9 Science. During this time, he has helped coach and support some of the school’s sports teams, achieved several teaching certificates from IB in both Science and P.E. 

Jesse is a driven and ambitious life-long learner that continues to attend several workshops to continually grow as an educator, and stay updated with new technologies and breakthroughs in science and education. Jesse currently speaks Spanish, French, and Italian, and is trying to learn Mandarin Chinese. His personal passion for Health, Science, and learning translates into an interactive and engaging teaching style that he uses to try and promote growth in himself and for his students.
