Francois Pretorius

MYP Design & Hour Technology Teacher

Francois Pretorius is a MYP Design teacher at ISNS. He is from South Africa and studied at the North-West University (NWU) where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and a Master of Arts degree in Art History. He further holds a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from Leeds Beckett University (UK), as well as TEFL and User Experience (UX) Design certificates respectively.

Previously, Francois managed the NWU Creativity Centre, a visual art and design department of the North-West University, where he also lectured across a range of creative disciplines. In addition, he was formerly employed as an IB PYP Specialist Art educator and Cambridge Lower Secondary Art and Design educator in China, and as an illustrator of educational material for children in South Korea.

Francois is driven by his enthusiasm for visual art and design, its history and contemporary developments, and its potential to enhance life experiences through creative problem-solving. At ISNS, he is accompanied by Ms. Izell, a friendly Grade 2 homeroom teacher, and their two sons, Sebastian and Erik, who collectively love exploring Shenzhen. Apart from school, Francois practices printmaking, photography, and painting, and enjoys a good book, good music, and good company.
